Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the game, Valve has announced a massive update to Half-Life 2, the studio’s classic first-person shooter, available for older and newer fans alike to enjoy.
Significant features included within this anniversary update include:
- Improved Graphics: received upgrades through the implementation of Lightmap resolution and fog effects with other enhancements for better visuals.
- Developer commentary: Players can now access developer commentary covering aspects of the game from the perspective of its creation and design philosophies.
- Steam Workshop Support: The community now has access to Steam Workshop, allowing players to easily find and install a wide variety of mods created by fellow gamers.
- Episodic Content: Half-Life 2 now merges Episode One and Episode Two into the rest of the game to create one seamless narrative experience.
A documentary about the Half-Life 2 development process reached two hours in length by Valve through team interviews and production footage. The classic game featuring Half-Life 2 is available for free download on Steam until November 18, 2024.
