In partnership with developer Evil Empire, Ubisoft has launched The Rogue Prince of Persia’s «Second Act» update, providing the largest update to the game since its Early Access launch in May 2024.
This free update almost doubles the game’s content by adding new biomes, bosses, and a new narrative act and improving existing features to enhance the experience.
New Challenges
Two additional biomes, The Mines and The Craftsmen’s District, were added for players to explore.
Mines include terrifying, dark hallways with unstable structures that can collapse during battle. As you combat successive hordes of shadowy enemies like Cinder Spiders (which explode when dead), players are challenged to dodge the collapsing scenery with quick reflexes.
Adding a new aesthetic design in the form of a tangled network of interlocked workshops, the Craftsmen’s District features automated turrets, blade traps, and mechanical minions. From the development desk, The Evil Empire confirmed that larger expansions are also planned for 2025, the fans of adventures have a lot to experience waiting.
2 New Bosses, Altan and Kaali to provide two new and unique challenges. To access these bosses, you need to find their respective lair entrances.
Altan trapped inside the city’s public baths, has now become a slow tentacle beast that has been fueled with dark shamanic magic.
Kaali one of Nogaï’s youngest generals, is a speedy and spry opponent, offering players an optional final boss fight instead of Bataar.
Character Redesign and Visual Upgrades
One of the key elements of the «Second Act» update is the full graphical revamp. Textures and lighting have been enhanced with the game’s new art direction, and these help to give life to Ctesiphon, the wartime city. The streets look like something out of a war film, with half-downed statues laying on the ground, and flickering lamps gently guiding players through the desolation of the city.
Prince’s character design has also seen a refresh, with the character exchanging his original purple look and a design ethos that was more suitable for the Prince of Persia legacy book. Longtime fans will be able to use the «Purple Prince» skin that will soon be available if you prefer the original style.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
Here are some quality-of-life updates based on player feedback:
Adjustable enemy difficulty to player skill and progress, allowing casual gamers and hardcore away to find their balance.
Features of Auto-Collect — spirit cinder and gold will be instantly collected, needless backtracking in dynamic battles.
Multi-Save Support allows players to mess around with various builds, or return to previous parts of the game without loss of progress.
The game also adds support for eight new languages — German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Italian. This update greatly widens the accessibility to audiences in international markets. Developers at Evil Empire have confirmed plans for further expansions in 2025, ensuring fans have even more adventures to look forward to.
