Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the game, Valve has announced a massive update to Half-Life 2, the studio’s classic first-person shooter, available for older and newer fans alike to enjoy.
Some of the highlights of this anniversary update include:
Improved Graphics: Lightmap resolution and fog effects among others have been implemented to enhance the visuals.
Developer commentary: Players can now access developer commentary covering aspects of the game from the perspective of its creation and design philosophies.
Steam Workshop Support: The community now has access to Steam Workshop, allowing players to easily find and install a wide variety of mods created by fellow gamers.
Episodic Content: Half-Life 2 now merges Episode One and Episode Two into the rest of the game to create one seamless narrative experience.
In addition, Valve has also released a two-hour documentary on the making of Half-Life 2, with interviews from the original team as well as behind-the-scenes footage. What’s more, until November 18, 2024, those who have yet to play this retro title can grab it for free on Steam.
